September 1, 2007: mozdev celebrates its 7th birthday! In September 2000, mozdev was launched as a site dedicated to supporting Mozilla application and extension developers. There are currently over 200 active projects being hosted and there are ambititious plans to improve the features that are offered to project owners and users. We would like to thank everyone who has contributed time, energy or money over the past 7 years and we look forward to another year of serving the open source community.

June 11, 2007: mozdev hires a full-time Web Developer. The Mozdev Community Organization would like to announce that Doug Warner has been hired as a full-time Web Developer. Doug has extensive experience with web application programming and network administration and has also worked on online collaborative sites before. Doug will be working with both community members and the Board of Directors to improve and expand the services that are offered on mozdev.org.

May 2, 2007: mozdev project receives grant to support developers. The Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) has awarded a $2,500 grant to the Enigform project. The grant will support the developers in their effort to create a Firefox extension that will give users the ability to digitally sign HTTP requests.

January 30, 2007: mozdev releases 2006 annual report. The Mozdev Community Organization invites you to take a look at its 2006 annual report. This document contains an overview of the non-profit's achievements in 2006, a set of goals for 2007, and financial information about the organization's revenues and expenses. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone again for their donations to support the mozdev.org community.

December 10, 2006: mozdev welcomes Eric Jung as new board member. The Mozdev Community Organization would like to announce that Eric Jung has joined the Board of Directors. Eric has been an active mozdev community member for years and is developing the FoxyProxy and PasswordMaker projects. He is also active on mozillaZine's forums and mozilla.org's mailing lists and IRC. Eric brings both technical and managerial experience to the board and he will help increase our capacity to expand the quality and scope of our site's services.

November 23, 2006: mozdev appears in Austrian newspaper. The article talks about how our system administrators, the Vienna-based company strg.at, handled the huge spike in traffic from the Firefox 2.0 launch. Babelfish translates the first paragraph as: 'With tension release of the Firefox 2,0 was internationally expected - in Vienna a small company had a temperature to the attack on the servers of the Mozdev Community Organization.'

September 5, 2006: mozdev turns 6 years old! In September 2000, mozdev was launched as a free project hosting service for Mozilla developers. Since then, over 1000 projects have been started and the community has grown and thrived. We would like to thank everyone who has contributed time, energy or money over the past 6 years and we look forward to another year of serving the open source community.

June 5, 2006: mozdev gains tax exempt status. We are proud to announce that the Mozdev Community Organization is now a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and donations made to mozdev can be claimed as tax deductions (please consult your own tax specialist to ensure that you qualify). Previous donations dating back to April 26, 2004 can also be claimed. For more information, please see the About and Donate pages at mozdev.org.

April 25, 2006: mozdev receives grant from the Mozilla Foundation. The grant covers expenses for a part-time application developer for two years. The developer will have the task of improving and enhancing the functionality of mozdev.org and will take over much of the day-to-day work that has been done so far by the people who have been volunteering to run the site in their spare time. A job description for this new position will be posted soon.
