I am checking to find out what the recommended best practice is (on
mozilla.dev.i18n). If the language codes in the extension should change,
then I will do that.

Most colours are set in wmlbrowser are based on the user's system
colours. Links are specified to have the "Highlight" colour (See for
example
http://www.utoronto.ca/ian/books/xhtml1/appd/update-23feb2000.html).
However your screenshot shows that the selected colours aren't always
the best choices. I've raised bug 15654 on this.
