I was using Outlook but because of Live it no longer worked. I loaded Thunderbird and the Hotmail extension, which logged in on both email accounts (one was Live, the other Hotmail). I then switched my other Hotmail account to Live. Today I found that one email again was not logging in. I found that switching back to the old Hotmail system fixes the problem on both accounts. Setting the Webmail - Hotmail extension to Hotmail (production) works best with this login setup. I also noticed that since I have 2 accounts, both using the Webmail - Hotmail setup, I needed two SMTP servers with the localhost name. The Webmail - Hotmail extension seems to register the SMTP server by the server name, not the description, so one of the two localhost SMTP servers would cause errors when sending emails (the last one set up). I fixed this problem by specifying one server as localhost and the other as 127.0.0.1. If I had more Hotmail accounts I would need to modify the HOST file on my computer to allow for more localhost aliases. This is a bug with Webmail - Hotmail and should be fixed by registering the connections by Description (name), not host. Additionally, the login for a Microsoft Live enabled Hotmail account should be looked at so that there are less problems with login (password does not get sent correctly). Thank you. First, make sure your Thunderbird and Webmail-Hotmail extension are compatible and up to date. I'm using Thunderbird 1.5.0.9 with Webmail-Hotmail version 1.0.16, which work well together (I just updated to 1.0.17 but have not tested the fixes). I noticed that a Hotmail account may not work properly with the Webmail extension if it's set up as a Live Mail account. You may need to revert your Hotmail account back to the Hotmail service, not the Live Mail service. This isn't a problem with the Webmail extension, but more a problem with the Live Mail service not being developed to allow third-party vendors to connect easily, notice the problem with Outlook 2003 and Hotmail accounts on the Live system. I've sent a message to the Live developers to look into this problem. To fix your problem: - Reset your Hotmail accounts back to the Hotmail system if you're having troubles with the Hotmail (Beta) mode in the Webmail extension. - Set your Webmail-Hotmail extension to Hotmail (production) on the accounts. - Set your POP3 server on the Hotmail account properties to localhost - Set your SMTP server on the Hotmail account to localhost with the Hotmail login (you may need to set up a new SMTP server) - If you have 2 hotmail accounts set up one SMTP server as localhost with the login info for one account, then another SMTP as 127.0.0.1 with the other login information. - Apply the SMTP server to the account in the account properties.
