You don't really need to install it over your Firefox-2. In Linux, I
have Firefox-2 installed in /opt/firefox and Firefox-3 installed in
/home/me/local/firefox and I can use them both without any problems. One
can even use different user profiles with the -P option
(e.g. firefox -P fx3test). I don't know about BSD, but I think if you
could overcome the build errors, you don't have to run make install:
you could just copy the resulting files to you daily user's home dir and
run firefox -P fx3 or smth.
