There is a 'hinttimeout' option for it, :set hinttimeout=500, and then
press 1, it will be followed after half a second automatically, if you
don't write more chars.

That is done exactly that way for exactly that reason :) And also
exactly 0.5 seconds (non changable for now unfortunatly). Maybe i should
change it to 1 second, hmm...

No problem, that's not complaining, rather "input" :)
It always depends, on HOW one issues his feature requests, and you did
it in a friendly way.
