^M does not work, you have to use <cr> or <return>. I just tested it in
the 0.6pre development snapshot, works without a problem.

Maybe that's the problem. Does somebody else here use 0.5.3 and can
confirm it? (Not that it will matter much, as development really is
focused on 0.6 now).
