[Vimperator] External editor disables Firefox windows

The external editor feature for TEXTAREA and INSERT mods ( Ctrl-i ) is 
nice. However, when I use it I cannot access any Firefox windows I 
already have open. Is this behaviour intentional? Often while editing I 
wish to reference something from a web page but can't look it up because 
Firefox is unavailable. Other FF external editor addons, eg 
ViewSourceWith and Mozex, allow you to continue viewing pages while editing.

I am using:

Vimperator 0.6pre running on:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9pre) Gecko/2008042604 
Minefield/3.0pre
