There seems to be something wrong with my bookmarks file that the
extension does not like.  The work machine had many more bookmarks,
and especially a few bookmarklets (which contain JavaScript), and I am
wondering if there is a parsing error in one of those...?

I created a shortened and sanitised (in terms of internal IP addresses
and hostnames!) version of my bookmarks.html that duplicates the
problem.  If you want me to send it I will do so.

Finally, as your support for keywords matures, you may want to remove
the internal search shortcuts completely.  Or maybe just keep google
as a default.
