Hi Doug,

My apologies for being unclear.

Precisely. In all cases (ie., whichever of my dozen or so keywords I
try) I get a google page that searches for "kw searchstring", where kw
is whatever keyword I have used.

Again, that is precisely what happens when I unset defsearch and try
my keyword opens.

I understand. But the behaviour is as per the documentation :-) But
only on my work machine.

Just tried it. The first 4 are "about:blank", "answers", "chambers",
and "del", then a whole bunch of file URLs. I figured it's because I
use "wildoptions=sort" and the "f" in "file:///" seems to come between
the "del" and "google", so I set cpt=sb and tried again, and got
"google", "imdb", "the", "webster", "wikipedia", and "yahoo". Then it
wraps to the top. None of these are my keywords.

As soon as I go home I will try the exact same thing on the home
machine and report back -- I'll bet my keywords show up in the list,
and I have to figure out what I'm doing wrong on the office machine.

I must add though, that going into about:config and filtering with
"vimperator" gets me only the following keys: commandline_history,
complete ("sb"), defsearch ("google"), firsttime ("false"), guioptions
(empty), quickmarks, showstatuslinks (2), and wildoptions ("sort").
Nothing else. And I know this is the same on the home machine because
I stopped firefox, cleaned out prefs from prefs.js using vim, and then
started on both machines to try and isolate the problem.

Either it's interaction with some other extension, or I'm stumped.
The extensions I have are: AdBlock+, All-in-one gestures, British
English Dictionary, DOM Inspector, DownloadHelper, DownThemAll,
It'sAllText, NewsFox, NoScript, ScrapBook, Sunrise, SwitchProxy,
TiddlySnip, and WebDeveloper. I'm not sure what I have at home, but
it's not as many (I think All-in-One gestures and Its All Text are
missing but I'll check and get back to you!)

Many thanks for your help.

Sitaram
