I searched through the archive, but I haven't found it. I plan to use Synckolab with my imap account to sync my address book, my calendar, and tasks between my notebooks. I would like a feature which allows synchronization on the start of Thunderbird and on the exit of Thunderbird. This would allow me to get all the news when I start TB and save my work when I close TB. I hope something like this will be possible. Thanks in advance. If you have umlauts in your contacts, it synchronizes it correctly to your IMAP server. But if you do another sync, your umlauts are broken in your local addressbook. I don't know, which information I can provide further. Creating a bug might also be helpful. http://synckolab.mozdev.org/bugs.html jerry From schwei at rhrk.uni-kl.de Sun Jan 25 15:43:29 2009 From: schwei at rhrk.uni-kl.de (Markus Schweitzer) Date: Mon, 26 Jan 2009 00:43:29 +0100 Subject: [Synckolab] Souce Code Documentation Message-ID: <497CF921.7010008@rhrk.uni-kl.de> Hello! I am new to synckolab. The synchronisation works fine for me. Now, I would like to have a look at the source but it is really hard without any documentation. Is there something like an architecture document which shows the dependencies between the different files and modules? A description of the overall concept would be great! Thanks in advance. Rather than that I have another proposal. What if clicking on the Calendar folder brought up lightning sort of the same way that using the "Go" menu does. The same could be done for the Task folder. I guess the only real question would be the Contacts folder. Would you try to get the Contacts to replace the message view like Lightning does or would you open the Contacts window and do something like show the messages from the Inbox? By my thinking at least if a user accidentally clicks on one of the special folders they don't get a list of emails that they can't really do anything with. They also wouldn't be tempted to delete those "useless" messages. The other change to go along with this would be to change the icons for the groupware folders to indicate the type of data they contain. The Mail-Tweaks extension shows how to change the icons with a userchrome.css tweak, so I know that there is a way to do this. You already know what folders are special from the configuration of SyncKolab so there really should be no extra configuration involved. I was trying to figure out how to add these features to SyncKolab so I could just hand over a patch but so far my limited knowledge of javascript and extension programming is hampering my progress. I already played around with marking folders. But didnt really have time until now. If you want to play around here are few hints that might help you on the way: - to get all the selected folders you need (see settings.js line 170ff): var pref = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/preferences-service;1"].getService(Components.interfaces.nsIPrefBranch); then read the configs: var configs = new Array(); try { var Config = pref.getCharPref("SyncKolab.Configs"); configs = Config.split(';'); } catch(ex) {} - then read each folder path and the serverKey: serverKey = pref.getCharPref("SyncKolab."+config+".IncomingServer"); folderPath = pref.getCharPref("SyncKolab."+config+".ContactFolderPath"); // and for the others: .TaskFolderPath or: .CalendarFolderPath - there is a helper function which gets the msgfolderObject the; folder = getMsgFolder(syncAddressBook.serverKey, syncAddressBook.folderPath); and its uri: folderMsgURI = syncAddressBook.folder.baseMessageURI; the best place to add this kind of code will be in synckolab.js 215ff (function initSyncKolab ()) I will be happy to integrate that code :) (wont be available for the next week since I am on a skiing trip)
