This means on the initial computer I can sync, all other computers are not able to sync completely. The error is reproducable, so this should be possible to fix it. Can you have a look at this? Win2000 Thunderbird 2.0.0.14 Synckolab 1.0.0/1.0.1 -- Alain Bechetoille From jcat at tuffmail.com Tue Jul 15 15:07:55 2008 From: jcat at tuffmail.com (jcat) Date: Tue, 15 Jul 2008 18:07:55 -0400 Subject: [Synckolab] Synckolab, Thunderbird, and Palm OS Message-ID: <487D1FBB.1080405@tuffmail.com> I've just gotten synckolab in place, and it seems to be working. I'm really thrilled to have found it. But for me at least it's only the first part of the puzzle - what I really want is to be able to sync my Treo - Palm OS - with my Thunderbird contacts (over the air), and it seems to me that should be possible with Kolab, since of course my Treo can access my IMAP server. Does anyone know if there is a Kolab client for Palm OS existing or in the works? I've searched around a bit but haven't haven't found anything. Thanks! You could try Zindus which syncs TB with GMail contacts and have your Treo sync with GMail contacts via goosync or something similar. Sounds a bit complicated, but it works pretty well: SyncKolab --> syncs MAB and Kolab Zindus --> syncs MAB and Gmail Contacts Goosync --> syncs (over air) Gmail Contacts and Treo Cheers, Alex C. I know about Zindus (and in fact for calendar, I use Goosync and the Thunderbird Provider for Google extension to keep Thunderbird and Treo synchronized, via Google calendar; I haven't tried Synckolab for calendar), but I'm not fond of Gmail contacts as a general-use address book - for one thing, Gmail doesn't permit you to have a contact that doesn't have an email address. So that's not really a good solution for me. There is a Thunderbird-Palm contacts syncing conduit; I already use it to keep my Treo contracts synchronized with Thunderbird via the cable. So I'll just keep doing that for now, and use Synckolab to keep Thunderbird contacts synchronized on my various machines, and I'll hope that perhaps someone will develop a Kolab client for Palm OS - it would make a lot of sense! Thanks for the months of work on SyncKolab! I think it can grow to an alternativ to Exchange where the people don't need all the features. I am testing SyncKolab for a bigger environment. I noticed some strange behaviour in the "SyncKolab Options", but I don't know if it is a bug, or a function which is noch implemented yet: When I try to assign different Calendars to their specific IMAP-folders to sync, the selection of the IMAP-folder stays during the change of the calender-name in the pull down menu. As I interpret it I can only sync one calendar with one IMAP-folder, not more caleners/folders. In the prefs.js I see also only one entry for a calender-/IMAP-folder. Is it a bug, or just not implemented. Another great idea would be a Native iPhone app to sync contacts there to the IMAP folder similar to the thunderbird plugin. That way all contacts would be synced using the IMAP folder and a contact added to the iPhone Addressbook would be available when I got to my PC and synced my Thunderbid. Apple iPhone SDK actually has a lot of example of working directly with the iPhone addressbook. The only hard part would be getting to the IMAP folder and getting the contacts. Just a thought...
