I made the filter list wider and made the filters editable. Without these changes I had to manually edit my profiles in a text editor. I also intended to change the behavior of the white list so that slogger would execute if any of the whitelist rules are true. I discovered that this was already slogger's behavior, but the label next to the whitelist checkbox was incorrect. When I have time, I plan on making a few changes to how the profiles are managed and stored. I noticed some inconsistent behavior with settings from deleted profiles were stored in prefs.js. I haven't investigated how, when, or why, the profile data was stored in prefs.js, but it shouldn't be necessary since all of that data should be read directly from the profile. I am also thinking about possible changes to the profile to make them more text-editor friendly. You can download my version at: http://www.apeinspace.com/projects/slogger-0.6.20070211.xpi, but don't count on it being there indefinitely -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... As far as I know, you should not be using alert here, because it blocks the threading in FF (to my knowledge). If you install firebug or venkman you can possibly figure out what happens that causes it to hang. You should of course, also check that your receiving server (for the XHR) is not stalling and keeping the response from succeeding. You will have to talk to someone more knowledgeable in javascript to figure out how to debug that XHR. The CGI script should be extremely lightweight and have a minimal response time. Mine only log the info to a database, and the rest of the processing is done in another script. -- Robin * *Peter wrote: > Dear Robin > > Thanks for your script using XMLHttpRequest > > I can not make this work for me: I can see (using alerts) that the > request is never finished, slogger keeps on waiting for ever. Message-ID: <20070215084442.D364E1BF297@ws1-1.us4.outblaze.com> Ken, I am still using Slogger 0.5.12, because I like the functionality you and Joe Walp built for that version of being able to save a page and post a url to delicious at the same time. Is there a version of that flavor of Slogger that works with FireFox 2.0.0.1. FireFox is telling me that the 0.5.12 version isn't compatible with it, but I don't want to just blindly install the newest version and lose the functionality I like. The version I posted in my last message only had minor changes, to fix a GUI problem in the filters tab (you can find it here http://www.apeinspace.com/projects/slogger-0.6.20070211.xpi) Since then I have started a major refactoring to the code that manages profile settings and page information. I don't like how slogger uses global preferences to store temporary information, so I have been refactoring the code to work in a more object oriented manor. From a users perspective this doesn't make an immediate difference, but should make it much simpler to implement logging of pages loaded into the background. After these changes are complete I plan on adding more features. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
