I apologise for the technical issues that are happening on Wikia sites
at the moment. As many of you already know, we are currently moving
the site from wikicities.com to wikia.com. You might see disappearing
wikis for a (hopefully very short) while, but our technical team is
working on this now.

The reason for the change is that Wikicities is relaunching as Wikia!

We will be sending a press release out soon with more details and
other news, but this is a pre-announcement to explain the change to
you.

All Wikicities will be moved from the wikicities.com domain to the
wikia.com domain today. We will endeavour to make sure the old URLs
continue working so no links will be broken, and users of your wikis
should find they are automatically redirected to the correct place.

As you may know, Wikia already hosts some of the world's largest wikis
on hundreds of topics ranging from politics to pets. Since the site's
launch in November 2004, over 1000 Wikia have been created and edited
by over 20,000 registered users in over 35 languages. However, over
the past year, the name ''Wikicities'' has often caused confusion,
with many people believing it was a site for city guides rather than
wikis about any topic.

We hope you the users of your wikis will find the new name Wikia
easier to type, and less confusing.

If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact us
(either on this mailing list or using the contact form at
<http://www.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Contact>) or join the #wikia IRC
channel on freenode to discuss the change with other Wikia users.
