Well, you've done a good job...
By "Luna/MediaCenter theme" I didn't mean some third-party theme, but
the default, shiny GUI of Windows XP and/or Windows Media Center
Edition. Your style blends in well there because of the round shapes,
big font etc.
I can't send you a screenshot of this because I'm using the "classic"
GUI (only because there's no DOS theme ;) ), but I'm here are some quick
results from Google Images:

I've noticed that read items kinda merge with the background and become
hard to read, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
This new color somehow doesn't fit in, IMHO. So I've gone back to
graying out read items, but I've adjusted it to #A0A0A0 (there might be
better shades of gray for this, but I don't have an eye for that).
Oh, by the way: I've set the background attachment to "fixed" for the body.
This had a nice side-effect (only with the gainsboro color though): As
read items are moved into the gray area when you scroll down, they
become strangely shiny... Is that an optical illusion or is the Gecko
engine automatically enhancing the contrast somehow? (It might also be a
mental defect on my part though, in case you cannot duplicate this on
your machine. :o )
