Hello Sage developers, et al!
As there appeared Sage nightly builds that should give us a vision
on upcoming version, I'd like to provide some quick comments.
I use Sage in the following way:
- open side-bar with feed list, feed item list, and feed item list
tool-bar enabled;
- press 'check feeds' button to update all feeds;
- middle-click to every feed with new items to open it in new
non-focused tab;
- press 'mark all as read' for every opened feed;
- close side-bar;
- read feeds;
- middle-click to some links of interest to open full text in new
tab;
- middle-click to reviewed tabs to close them.
* About new functionality/bugs
Now this algorithm is broken. Middle-clicking does not work as
expected -- the new tab is loaded, but feed item list is not updated,
even if I focus the tab. So, I can't 'mark all as read'.
Now I can notice that a feed is rendered twice -- first, almost without
formatting, then with selected style-sheet. This looks ugly.
It seems the issue with only last tab available for reload and
browsing history is fixed. Many thanks for that!
Haven't noticed any new features...
* About old annoyances that are still there
A window opened by 'discover feeds' button should contain horizontal
scroller and in addition it should be resizable. Otherwise it is
sometimes impossible to read all information about found feeds.
(The same applies to feed properties window, but this is less
annoying.)
It would be super-cool if I could press just one button (or hot-key)
to automatically perform all the steps described above before the
"read feeds" item.
Usually I check feeds once a day, but some sites roll-over the list
more frequently. So, I miss some of their feeds every day. Auto-update
functionality is the only solution here.
* About old annoyances that are most likely to present, but I have
not noticed them yet in new version
Sometimes, when there are (or were) many tabs open in several browser
windows, 'mark al as read' functionality starts working very slow.
Unread items are lost when a feed is reloaded after it was updated on
the server.
P.S.
I tried several feed-readers before and after I started using Sage,
and despite all my critics, by some reason I like Sage over any of
those feed-readers. I appreciate you keeping up the good work!
