[Sage] Firefox behavior question

I used to be able to click on the title of the feed (in the content area) and Firefox would launch a new tab with that URL. For example, the RSS feed for the home page of the NY Times is http://www.nytimes.com/services/xml/rss/nyt/HomePage.xml
Clicking on the title in the feed area would load the NY Times home page in the browser. With the latest version of Sage, clicking on the same place launches a new instance of Firefox, with the home page of the NY Times loaded into both instances.
I think something in Firefox or Sage changed, but I can't figure out what. I use the Tab Mix Plus extension as well, but it's always been set up to force a new tab, not a new window. I'd appreciate any suggestions. TIA.
