I'm new to TB, migrated recently from PMail, and also use and love 
Quotecolors. Was disappointed as well that it was disabled in the beta, 
but found a solution in the main TB support list, Mr Tech's local install:

Does a heckuva lot more more than I need, but it allows you to enable 
unsupported extensions. Took me a bit to find it. After installing, go 
to Mr Tech's options, then Miscellaneous | XPI Install Options and 
uncheck the box for Enable Addons Compatibility checking.

Quotecolors works fine for me.
