[Project_owners] read data from server

Use XmlHttpRequest. Contrary to its name, it can retrieve both XML and non-XML content.

Hi

is there any simple way for extension to read some data from server (html page or ftp) ; data like latest version, some database update , some new hints , ...

I know that it is possible to read html data,...
but it seems that it isn't good idea because it doesn't show progress-bar,error handling and also is hard works!

so maybe there is some easier way ?
