We used to do what is known as 'Featured Project':

http://www.mozdev.org/featured/

... which was linked on the front page and gave a little more exposure 
to projects that made it there. There were no rules to get listed, 
except that it had to be a useful and stable extension. They were chosen 
at random or the project owner nudged us.

If anyone thinks it would be useful to revive this, or has any other 
ideas in this area, let us know.
