[Project_owners] test install of extension on Macintosh and Linux

I am working on making my learn to cook extension work on both the Mac
and Linux.  I have rewritten a binary component into JavaScript and I
am looking for some way to test it.

Are their any volunteers or suggestions?

My code calls a few of the XPCOM IO routines.
