RAM is usually the bottleneck when linking gklayout.

In "depend" builds on Windows the bottleneck is the toolchain/OS.

In clobber builds the bottleneck is CPU in my experience (iirc, around
1.5 hours on a P4 3Ghz with 2GB RAM)
