[Project_owners] XUL preferences elements

Hi,

It seems that some people wants to use the pref window to add their own
extension preference. But I have also heard here (I think...) that the
FF pref window should be use only for FF use, not for extension.
Is there a "best practice" document for the pref window somewhere ?
