Did you try playing with some of the chrome:// and resource:// protocols
at all? That would be the ideal solution.
If this would require an update to the launcher, it may not be too
likely as a local homepage option has only been asked for twice in the
year that Portable Firefox has been in existance. And the first time,
the asker ended up just dropping the file on their web server.
But, being the hacking type, I created a quick and dirty batch launcher
that will let you do it here:
http://johnhaller.com/jh/mozilla/portable_firefox/#local_homepage
Try the chrome:// and resource:// protocols to see if you can get those
working. If not, you can use the batch file.
