[Needlesearch] Problem with Umlauts

Hi everyone!

I've searched the project page and haven't found a solution; if I
should have overlooked ist, please give me a short hint where to find
the solution. Your bugtracker is down, so I'm posting here.

I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.1 with Your outstanding plug-in, version
3.1.2. Yet, I have a problem (that I, if I remeber correctly, was not
there with earlier versions, of browser? or plug-in? or both?).

When entering terms in the respective field, German umlauts (ä,ö,ü,
...) are not handed over correctly to the search engine, although the
encoding 8859-1, which is set in the engine's properties in
NeedleSearch, should (AFAIK) include these characters. "ö", e.g.,
appears as a question mark in the engine's field.

Maybe using a German version of firefox would help, but so far I've
always used the English version, as localized versions take their
time until released.

Is there a way that terms with German umlauts will be handed over
correctly? I haven't found an option in NS' preferences that might be
of any help.

Cheers!
       Marius
