You can now turn your entries into Custom Keyword searches. (This functionality is in the editor) You use it by doing this: 1. Enter a keyword for a search entry, i.e. gg 2. Press File > Generate bookmarks 3. In your list of bookmarks should appear an entry that says: NeedleSearch 4. You can now enter in the address bar something like: gg test and this start your search YOU CAN'T USE MULTIFIELD SEARCH FOR THIS. This funtionality was added by Robert Freund. The addition is a brand new icon set. Much more in sync with the default theme of Firefox. Other additions are that you can now use NeedleSearch to make your custom keyword searches. --Eelco From joshualevy at yahoo.com Tue Sep 20 16:27:57 2005 From: joshualevy at yahoo.com (Joshua Levy) Date: Tue Sep 20 18:29:20 2005 Subject: [Needlesearch] research log feature In-Reply-To: Message-ID: <20050920222757.97554.qmail@web54603.mail.yahoo.com> I was wondering if you could add a "research log" feature to NeedleSearch. The basic idea is this: you could type in a search term, and then click a button on the NS toolbar, and see a page listing all the NS search engines, and a check mark if that search term had been run on that search engine. Or (even better) print out the date that the search was last run on that search engine. I think this could expand NeedleSearch from beeing a great search tool to being a great research tool. Because it would help you keep track of what you had done and not done. Here is a simple example of use: I keep tropical fish as pets. When I hear about a new species of fish, I like to research it, and I have a list of 5 or 10 web sites where I like to search for information on the new species. But this takes a long time, so I rarely complete all the searches at one sitting. Often I come back a day or two later and have trouble remembering which web sites I have searched, and which I have not. This tool would make it easy for me to start searching where I left off before. (I know your web page says to file a bugzilla report, if you want a new feature, but I wanted to see if you thought this was a good feature, before I filed a bugzilla report.)
