[Mycroft] What is Mycroft - for the novice

Sorry for this basic question. I've
poked around the site, even read some of
the config examples. However, I am
missing something. I know something cool
and useful lurks within, but I'm just
not certain what it is.

Please help.

I'm trying to answer questions such as:

A) Why would I (as an end user) download
a Mycroft Search Engine plugin?
B) Why would I (as a web hoster) create
such a thing? Why not just link my users
to Google.


If there is already a posting in the
archive (which I poked through - but
don't see a search mechanism) by all
means please point me to that posting.

Any help or references would be most
appreciated.

I look forward to understanding how
Mycroft techniques will change the way I
view searching the web.
