Well, first of all, thank you for your extensive reply. It clarified a lot of
things.

About your key at the bottom of the pages, I think it's great. Perhaps, if you
had lots of spare time, you could just add a "Why?" link, that would explain
your motivation and also reassure people to the fact that the programmes you
are using are endorsed by the "parent" web sites (i.e.: eBay, in our case).

I think it would add even more to the transparency of the whole thing.
