From ricky at linuxbourg.ch Thu Dec 4 14:06:40 2003 From: ricky at linuxbourg.ch (Ricky) Date: Thu Dec 4 08:14:10 2003 Subject: [Mozmanual] German translation in progress and some problems in English version Message-ID: <3FCF3160.1010401@linuxbourg.ch> Hello Kevin, As announced previously, I've started to translate this excellent document to German, for use in the school where I am teaching. For those reading German, let me emphasize the fact that it's a de-CH translation, following the Swiss German spelling, i.e. without ?. If anybody else wants to join this effort, feel free to contact me. By doing this, I've noticed some problems in the original version. (draft 0.8) about the document itself: ========================== 1. at the bottom of page iii, there's a link to http://www.mozilla.org/why/why-support-mozilla.html which appears to be dead. Anyone knows where it should now point to? about mozmanual-figures.sxd: ============================ 2. The "aqua" color call-outs have their label in the exotic font "Balloon XBd BT" which is not installed on every computer, not to mention Linux, on which I'm working. So it would be nice to use a common font in order to avoid unnecessary complications in this matter. 3. The following images don't display: - cover: all 5 pictures pointing to Data/Data/Kevin/DWSD/Mozilla/Cover %20Art/*.png - Fig 14: picture pointing to Data/Data/Kevin/DWSD/Mozilla/browser- password-manager.gif - Fig 15: picture pointing to Data/Data/Kevin/DWSD/Mozilla/browser- bookmarks-manage-1.gif - Fig 16: picture pointing to Data/Data/Kevin/DWSD/Mozilla/browser- bookmarks-manage-2.gif - Fig 17: picture pointing to Data/Data/Kevin/DWSD/Mozilla/browser- bookmarks-manage-3.gif 4. all other images seem to be embedded, so of course they show up well, but again, makes the work harder for translations, since they have to be imported again. It's easier to make the same images with the localized Mozilla, take car that their size is the same and not to have to worry about embedding them into the draw document. Anyone knows where it should now point to? Probably http://mozilla.org/why/support.html although I haven't looked in the context of the manual. But is refered to in chapters 1.4 and 1.8. Speaking about not introduced things is not a good idea, so I suggest to move 1.9 before 1.4. -- Aidas Kasparas IT administrator GM Consult Group, UAB From a.kasparas at gmc.lt Tue Dec 16 08:31:03 2003 From: a.kasparas at gmc.lt (Aidas Kasparas) Date: Tue Dec 16 22:31:59 2003 Subject: [Mozmanual] Composer Tip: Ctrl-Enter sends message Message-ID: <3FDEA6A7.2090903@gmc.lt> Subject says it all. I've posted a message at the dutch website www.mozbrowser.nl to find some people to join. Perhaps you've had other offers on the dutch translation already. That would be great. And it would take less time to translate. So please let me know if some already offered to translate to dutch. If none have, I don't mind to take a lead on this. localhost From kquiggle at earthlink.net Mon Dec 22 20:19:50 2003 From: kquiggle at earthlink.net (Kevin Quiggle) Date: Mon Dec 22 20:27:21 2003 Subject: [Mozmanual] dutch translation In-Reply-To: <6.0.1.1.2.20031222153536.028cfa20@wheresmymailserver.com> References: <6.0.1.1.2.20031222153536.028cfa20@wheresmymailserver.com> Message-ID: <3FE79836.1050503@earthlink.net> localhost@rw-l.nl wrote: > Hi all, > > I'm willing to work on a dutch translation, but don't feel like doing > it alone.
