Hello

Just installed MozPhone. Extension loads fine, but after accesing 
"Preferences" I get an error (translation from Polish to English):

Error pharsing XML: undefined unit
Area: chrome://mozphone/content/preferences.xul
Line number 343, column 5:
 				<checkbox id="auto_start"  label="&controls.auto_start;" />
--------------------------------^

Installed English version of firefox for testing. Extension works fine 
without such problem.

Polish version of Firefox downloaded from 
http://www.mozilla-europe.org/pl/products/firefox/.

Any ideas how to fix it?

Hello Andrzej,

It seems that some entries are missing in some language files.
You have two options: use english (or french !) version of Firefox, or 
add the entries to the polish language file. To add the entries in the 
language file, unzip mozphone-0.9.15.xpi; it contains 
chrome/mozphone.jar. Then unzip mozphone.jar, and add :
	<!ENTITY controls.auto_start  "Auto-start">
to locale/pl-PL/mozphone/prefs.dtd.
Then zip back all the files in .jar and .xpi.

I have migrated my system (gentoo) to 64 bits, and now, I'm not able to
use moziax, but I'm not sure my system is really clean.
I went in the sources (cvs) and I can tell that is network_client which
segfault when mozphone uses the proxiax_send :

My main system is 64 bits, MozPhone works fine :)

This is a problem I had when devices where used and PortAudio could not 
open them. Probably a sound daemon has taken exclusive access to 
/dev/dsp and /dev/dsp1.
Of course network_client should not segfault, but the problem is deep in 
libiaxclient, or even PortAudio. I've tried to find it but couldn't...

Thanks for your using MozPhone.

Yes this is an interesting suggestion. I've never used FirefoxPortable 
myself, but I find the idea very interesting. As you say, it is probably 
not a big / difficult modification to move the prefs file to a new 
location. The best option could be to move to Firefox's preferences 
subsystem, but that would be more work.

I copied the list (http://moziax.mozdev.org/list.html) for reference / 
open discussion. Could you please use it for future discussion ?

iLBC is not compiled in default libiaxclient. I've never tried it myself 
so I'm not sure if it works at all, what is the quality, bandwith... I 
will try and enable it if it's just a matter of recompiling.

As a side note, I recently added g726 support, so it should be in next 
version.

The reason of my question was the fact that IMHO iLBC works better then 
gsm using SIP protocol - I'm using SIP for quite a while now.

As I told, I'm sure my system is not really very clean for the moment.

Never found why. But, due too the very poor quality of my integreted
sound chipset, I re-added my old SB Live 5.1, put it this first sound
card, and now, I haven't problem anymore.
So, my problem is solved, but I don't really know what happened.

I have contacted Jean-Denis yesterday (our conversation is pasted below, as
he kindly asked me to use the mailing list) suggesting an improvement on
security matters, first of all about the prefs file: its position on the
computer and the fact that it's a plain text file.  Regarding compiling
MozIAX, I'd enjoy some directions on how to compile the package.  I actually
have no serious spare time but I believe that sharing some infos on building
the source would be really helpful for us all.  I downloaded the source from
cvs , but I found no file such as READMEs et similia... :-(  I usually
developed apps in Netbeans and vi+gcc mostly, but this time I feel really
lost...

Hi Marcello,

There are actually a README and CHANGES file in the archive:
	chrome/content/mozphone
(maybe these files should be moved to another location, I'm open to 
suggestions)

The README would need to be updated (main change is that jslib has been 
imported in MozPhone sources), but it still gives a good idea about 
MozPhone. If you just want to modify the interface, there is nothing to 
compile. You can unzip mozphone.xpi, then unzip chrome/mozphone.jar, 
then modify what you want (javascript files, language files, xul 
files...), and zip back all the files together.

That is very good idea with prefs file.

I would propose another approach to the prefs file. Why can't mozphone get 
preferences form server via http/https?

I see it like that:
- after loading Mozphone, user have to input: server (http/https), user 
(iax) and password (iax)
- that data is transfered to the script (php ?) on the server side
- if data is correct server sends to mozphone preferences
- if data is not correct mozphone gives error "Wrong ....."

When prefs are modified mozphone should transfer them to the server - some 
PHP script can receive data and write it to the file or database.

If this idea would be accepted I can write needed php scripts.

Another thing is password in plain text. Some encryption is needed.

I'm using the oldtrunk branch of libiaxclient, svn version 610M, but 
I've done some modifications. Please have a look at this previous post

Also may I ask why you need / want to compile network_client ? Is there 
something missing in the original version that I should add ?
