The GCC and whatnot is for compiling the C/C++ zip code (not in CVS at 
the moment). To just make a MAF xpi run the makexpi.sh script. Without 
the native C/C++ component now though, you won't be able to create MAF 
files, just MHTs and because of the MIME thing (or something I can't 
figure out) MHTs display as text on the Mac.

I was considering running PearPC + MacOS X, but the OS alone is US$149. 
I still can't download Darwin (I think it's the firewall at work) and 
even then just getting Firefox to work might be a task.
