I don't know if this is a transient problem or something more.  When I
view a book page at Amazon.com this morning, I'm getting a JavaScript
error on the IE version of LibX (though the cue appears and functions
correctly); on the Firefox version, the cue fails to appear.

I can't speak for the Firefox version, but what you're experiencing in 
IE appears to be related to a bug we're still dealing with.  Could you 
let me know if you get the the JavaScript error prompt if you open a new 
instance of IE and go directly to the same link on the Amazon website 
versus navigating through a few pages first before going to the Amazon 
website?

Can you share the amazon URL that's causing the problem?

Also, in Firefox in LibX Preferences -> Cue Options, what does it say
which version of the "LibX Standard Cues" you have?

Never mind.  The version of our LibX edition in the browser was from
June and hadn't been updated.  When we downloaded the current (August)
version, the cues appeared.

Good.

As a general comment, we now have auto update of cues in place (in
recently built editions). So, in the best case, shortly after someone
reports that a cue is broken, we'll fix it on the server side and the
fix is automatically picked up within 24 hours by all installed
clients, without users having to do anything.

If you don't wait to wait 24 hours, use the "Update Cues" button to
get an immediate update.

The IE  Javascript error does not occur when going directly to the item in 
Amazon and Barnes and Noble (only two I checked) but does occur when 
navigating through those sites.

When a user has LibX installed, Firefox will - as it does for all
extensions - periodically poll for updates. This polling mechanism
relies on a file called update.rdf.  Such accesses will appear in the
log as accesses to update.rdf. LibX IE uses the same file.

These accesses may give an indication of how many users retain LibX
after they install it (provided that their computer is on and Firefox
is running, which is required for Firefox to do the polling.) The
typical shortcomings of log analysis apply, such as the issue of
multiple installations behind a single IP, roaming IPs, etc.

I used the auto detection for Encore.  Typing in the search term
directly to the search fields works, but the Amazon cue fails.  When I
clicked on the cue icon, only the Encore search page is appeared.  Any
idea how to fix this?
