Message-ID: <45BA3F9B.30307@sfu.ca> Hello, I installed Vista on my PC a little while ago and hadn't gotten all my Extensions back into Firefox yet... And I was missing IE View and finally tracked it down again yesterday (forgot exactly what it was called... and searching for IE doesn't find it on mozdev!) So anyway, like I say.. I installed it yesterday, and then went to right-click a link and couldn't find it... So I look in my Add-ons and see that it's greyed out! It says "Not compatible with Firefox 2.0.0.1" - but from other peoples messages I get the impression that others are using it with Firefox v2.x Any idea what's up with that... Or how I might get it to work..? I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate and I always run any patches or updates within a day or so of them coming out. I've got 3GB RAM and various HD's... I can't think of anything else relevant. Any thoughts or suggestions or whatever would be much appreciated! Thanks, - Andrew -- Andrew Derry - derry at sfu.ca From paul at roub.net Fri Jan 26 11:40:03 2007 From: paul at roub.net (Paul Roub) Date: Fri, 26 Jan 2007 14:40:03 -0500 Subject: [Ieview] IE View not compatible with Firefox...? Hmm. I wonder if one of the mozdev mirrors isn't updating. I'm assuming you downloaded it from mozdev; and that you actually have IE View, not IE View Lite, which isn't mine. You downloaded it view ieview.mozdev.org? Have you tried the Find Updates button on Firefox's add-ons dialog? That *should* grab the latest version from addons.mozilla.org. Speaking of which, you might try the latest from *there*: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/35 It's absolutely marked as compatible with 2.0.0.*, and I've been running FF 2.0.0.1 from the start, with no trouble. -paul From derry at sfu.ca Fri Jan 26 20:52:16 2007 From: derry at sfu.ca (Andrew) Date: Fri, 26 Jan 2007 20:52:16 -0800 Subject: [Ieview] IE View not compatible with Firefox...? Leaving out the version! It says IE View 1.3.1 in the Add-ons dialog (right above the "Not compatible with Firefox 2.0.0.1") I think I have the latest version... And I've clicked the "Find Updates" a number of times yesterday and today... And it's definitely not IE View Lite - since I recall seeing that and thinking that it wasn't what I was looking for. Since I couldn't find it searching in mozdev... I ended up using Google, and searched for: firefox addon "open link target in ie" .. The third one down was "IE View Comments..." - Which took me to: https://addons.mozilla.org/comments.php?app=firefox&id=35&left=20&orderby= And from there, I just clicked "<< Back to IE View" So basically, I did download it from mozdev, and I have v1.3.1 ... I do suspect that it's something strange going on with Vista... But I have no clue where to start to figure it out... Let alone actually getting it to work! ;) Thanks again! - Any other thoughts or suggestions from anyone would be much appreciated. - Andrew Paul Roub wrote: >> I installed Vista on my PC a little while ago and hadn't gotten all my >> Extensions back into Firefox yet... IE View purposely avoids getting in the way of javascript calls -- it's honestly impossible to get it right in all -- or even most -- cases. Ideally, sites should provide non-javascript equivalents to their javascript-opened links -- it's easy to do, and a basic accessibility guidelines. Sadly, many sites get this wrong. -paul From paul at roub.net Wed Jan 31 03:56:20 2007 From: paul at roub.net (Paul Roub) Date: Wed, 31 Jan 2007 06:56:20 -0500 Subject: [Ieview] IE View not compatible with Firefox...? Something in your current settings is causing Firefox to get very confused about IE View's compatibility status. If you haven't already done so, I'd be interested to know if it works for you when installed in a clean profile. -paul Andrew wrote: > Thanks for the reply. :) > > My apologies...
