After installing from the xpi and restarting Mozilla I can invoke it from the Tools menu. When I do this I get the xul ui, with the status bar in the left hand pane displaying the page loading animation. I can open the Settings dialog from the Habari menu, but when I hit ok I get, 'TypeError: bTree has no properties'. The About menu item also appears to be non-functional. Am I missing something? I'm sure it's me doing something silly or missing the obvious. This and two other bug reports I have received tells me that there is definite problem on Windows. I will do some experiements and let you know when I can get this application to work on Windows. Just removing the folder 'habarixenu' under the chrome directory will not help. You need to open up chrome.rdf file in your chrome directory in a text editor and remove all references to habarixenu. If you do not want to go through with this, you can invoke mozilla with some command line switch (search google to find out which one) that invokes the profile manager. You can create a new profile there and delete your old profile. There is a development version of HX which removes it from your menus and such. But does not remove the directory. On windows, for some reason, it does not work. I am using JSLib's (jslib.mozdev.org) uninstall routines in my application to provide uninstall functionality. I am debugging it to see if I can get uninstall to work. 2. The top level directory that was created is because of the path not being escaped in JavaScript. So, instead of my application trying to open "C:\Documents and Settings\....\about.html" (note the spaces in the path) it ends up creating "C:\Documents%20and%20Settings\...\about.html". Again, this is a problem only with windows. It works with no problems on Linux and OS-X. I request your patience about having to live with HX for ever and ever. When I release a new version where uninstallation actually works on windows, it will uninstall the previous versions of HX as well and unregister HX from the browser. If you file a bug against HX at http://habarixenu.mozdev.org/bugs.html I will update the bug when I feel sufficiently confident about uninstallation working as advertised. This is the Windows method by the way, on the basis that the extension has been installed to Application chrome not Profile chrome although the method is pretty much the same. 1. Exit Mozilla if not already done so. 2. Remove the extension's directory eg. /habarixenu 3. Remove the content/skin/locale entries that relate to the extension from installed-chrome.txt 4. *Delete* chrome.rdf 5. *Delete* overlayinfo sub-dir under /chrome 6. Restart Mozilla The above two get recreated each time Mozilla starts. (For completeness sake you can also delete XUL.mfl in your profile, this is the XUL cache.) Here's why this will work... When Mozilla starts it looks for chrome.rdf to see what needs loading as per GUI chrome and any paths to relevant files so that it can build the GUI. Additional info is in the overlayinfo sub-dir under /chrome. *If* Mozilla doesn't find chrome.rdf and overlayinfo sub-dir it reads installed-chrome.txt to find out how to build the GUI and any overlays you have specified; this is how Mozilla's default chrome works anyway (look at installed-chrome.txt when you first install Mozilla and you will see what I mean). By reading installed-chrome.txt Mozilla creates chrome.rdf (so it doesn't have to be created each time you start Mozilla) as well as the overlayinfo sub-dir where necessary. I have used this method literally dozens and dozens of times as I rebuild my Mozilla installations almost *daily* depending on what fixes/updates have been made to the nightly builds. You can also use this method to manually install extensions just by placing the .jar file in the /chrome dir, adding content/skin/locale entries to installed-chrome.txt (no need in this instance to remove chrome.rdf/overlayinfo as Mozilla will just add the entries as necessary) and restart Mozilla. No need to use the EM as I believe it still has problems which I will inform Mozilla of. Hopes this helps everyone that is having problems with uninstalling Mozilla extensions, as this method has *never* failed for me. There is no "unoptimize" option because I don't currently keep the previous option. I tried to solve it via forum, but people there seem to have no difficulties in running and using it. I also tried to install it to a new profile and unistall/install again, but none of this works. I am getting desperate and I dont know who else to turn to. Is there a sollution please? So I know that it works from behind some proxies. 1. Could you find out from your network administrator which proxy you have installed in your network? 2. I can also read RSS feeds with other aggregators without problems and any special configuration except of setting the right proxy. (question 1-3) Question 4 seems to show that it might not be a proxy problem. All the pages have the same error messages. Therefore I attach only one example. There seem to be some parsing problem. Anyhow, it seems to be some kind of Squid proxy and the authentication process does not require any username or password. I have no problems accessing the news feeds with any other feed aggregators or browsers. The proxy does not disallow the user agent either as fas as I know. It seems that between version 0.9 and 1.0 of Firefox a bug was fixed in the browser. Unfortunately, this is the outcome of the bug fix. Could you please try just this one thing: Close the browser and open it again. DO NOT start Habari Xenu. Instead, open up a URL. This should make your proxy prompt you for username and password. Type in the username and password and make sure you can view the URL. Now you start Habari Xenu (Tools -> Habari Xenu). Now click on a feed that you have not clicked on in the last 60 minutes).
