I don't know if it is something related to the non-UTF8 es_ES locale,
but my GM is broken. I see this in red in the bottom part of the
window, below the status bar:

<- the "arrow" is pointing the last char, '>'.

I have firefox 1.5.0.7 in English and the language priorities for
viewing pages is es, en-US, en.
