As far as macros, here's one idea. Put your macros and snippets in
AutoHotKey (which btw is open source) and then if you ever change
editors, you still have them! I just installed it, but it's pretty
powerful. It took me just a few minutes to make the Alt-F4 exit
shortcut work with cmd windows!
