I might also add that I'm getting to the point in my career where I
simply don't want to learn another language, no matter how pretty,
useful, or ingenious it may be -- as I stated up front, I was looking
for someone to do the legwork (I had a rough design in mind, or at the
very least a well-stated goal) -- heck, I might have been willing to
throw a few bucks someone's way for coming up with something slick (of
course, that might have meant finding someone else who is an eHarmony
user or else the testing would have gone on for days...)

I cannot say for certain it explicitly said "this returns a string",
however I think I got that impression from a (somewhat contrived)
example that effectively returned only a single element of the array, so
the text may have concluded with xyz = 'some string' -- since there was
only one element returned, the "result" wasn't displayed in any way that
would imply it was an array.
