Thanks. I've done some assembly and C, and now mostly do higher-level stuff.
Given the perspective you're coming from, I understand your confusion
over the return type, but I do think using a language reference (ECMA
262) or book (Javascript, the definitive guide is the bible) as well
as a good tool (like Firebug) would serve you well.
If you were reading a tutorial that said .match returns a string,
well, it may not have been a good tutorial.
