Although might not be the preferred way, I bumped up the em:maxVersion 
in install.rdf and using it happily with Firefox 2.

Edit 
<your-profile-directory>/extensions/{e4a8a97b-f2ed-450b-b12d-ee082ba24781}/install.rdf 
and modify em:maxVersion to say 2.0.* and save it.
