[Greasemonkey] document.title not changing?

Greetings, fellow monkeyers,

Should I expect the following line of code:

     document.title = "what I want it to be";

to work as expected -- with the words "what I want it to be"  
replacing the otherwise useless title in a page? Or am I forgetting  
something?

The target page is any on mail.com, the goal is that every freaking  
page doesn't have the same title ("mail.com"), but something like  
"Inbox for test at iname.com".
