[Greasemonkey] Can greasemonkey set user prefs?

OK - The compile to extension is looking like the go. 

I'm very new to greasemonkey, and to extending firefox, but pretty fluent in
JS - can anyone give me a quick example of how to access user_pref values
from an extension compiled from greasemonkey?
