[Greasemonkey] greasemonkey as appexchange alternative

Has anyone heard of an enterprise application that has
publically called for developers to use greasemonkey to
extend their application's features?

I'm a bit familar with Salesforce.com's Appexchange
program which I feel does a similar things that one could
do with greasemonkey. i.e. allows you
to add tabs or update the UI, or integrate
with other sites and data, etc, etc.

Seems to me, I'd rather not be be locked into writing
apps for salesforce.com alone, when I could write an
app with greasemonkey and use slight modifications
of it on many applications. (e.g. detect location
to change my scripts dom node hunting strategy)

Could this be the future of enterprise software enhancements?
i.e. provide a demo account for your enterprise app and
a sample data set for developers to create new features
your customers are requesting, but are not on your
enteprise sofware company's internal priority list.?

i'd love to hear more thoughts on this.
