Sir, the most compelling feature is unequivocably, the
customizability!  You might like them, but personally I abhor
sidebars.  I use my screen real estate in particular organized ways,
and stealing chunks of my windows to do other things really irks me.

But of course, I get by without ever using it.  (Well, OK, I access my
history occasionally, and it's there and I can't reasonably get it
out.  But close enough to never).  And the fact that Firefox is
flexible enough for me to never use them, and you to do so much with
them is the big deal!

P.S.  I know of people that hate tabs too.  To each his own!
