the directory is there and gm_scripts\config.xml contains
<UserScriptConfig></UserScriptConfig>
the javascript console contains the following error:
Failed to launch editor: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520003 (NS_ERROR_FILE_EXECUTION_FAILED) [nsIMIMEInfo.launchWithFile]" nsresult: "0x80520003 (NS_ERROR_FILE_EXECUTION_FAILED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://greasemonkey/content/utils.js :: openInEditor :: line 151" data: no]

Look in your profile directory for a folder named gm_scripts.
If it's not there, do this:
mkdir gm_scripts
Windows: echo "" > gm_scripts\config.xml
If it is there, please open the Javascript console and tell us any
errors you see.

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you mean by "if I insist". Insist on what?
