Bill,
I think I take your point, if I'm understanding it, viz. that you are trying
to help people, to address concrete issues relevant to the topic at hand,
etc....
In fact, doing so seems very important to you. Insofaras you are committed
to these objectives, the GM list is lucky to have you!
There is a style - content thing happening here though. People seem not to
appreciate the way in which you communicate. And this probably makes it
harder for them to get to the content you're trying to communicate.
Frankly, I don't think your note below is going to help people get to the
content you seem to care so much about. I think it's going to keep people
focused on the issue they seem to have with your style.
Maybe you don't care about this. Maybe you're happy to dismiss anyone who
can't - or doesn't want to - deal with the way you choose to communicate.
That's your prerogative.
I would submit to you, however, that to the extent that you really do care
very much about the content of what you're communicating, you might want to
make it more accessible to a more general readership. Or not....
