[Greasemonkey] Editing GM scripts from Manager - in linux

So, I've looked through the past two months of subjects for how to get
an editor to spawn when the edit button is clicked. I'm kind of
stumped. I did set my $EDITOR and when I click it still doesn't pop
anything up and the faq didn't mention anything else about 'what to do
in linux'. In windows this was a cinch, and even if there was a "type
your editor into this line" popup dialogue that would be cool.
Is this a 'to be defined function' on unix (other than OSX)? Or does
someone have a way to edit the files from the Manage window and not
"Dive into the directory"?
