The point I was trying to make was that if we're not going to use the
version number programmatically then what do we care?

If the @version metadata would be used as a part of the script
trust/security systems being talked about in the other posts then I
can see why we would want it. Otherwise it _is_ just a graphic design
issue or an issue of 'good form'/tradition.
