Dang.

Whirlwind of research on how to implement this again today and I
finally discovered DOMContentLoaded event. It's an undocument,
proprietary event that Mozilla throws and which is accessible from
script when, um, the dom's content is loaded (that is, before all the
images and what not have loaded). But it works! If you're at all
interested, you can try something like this in JavaScript Shell (where
window == a browser chrome window).

  window.document.getElementById("appcontent").addEventListener(
    "DOMContentLoaded",
    function(e){alert(e.view.location.href)},
    false);

So I'll try and integrate this into the code tonight. Happy day!
