Anyone ever come up with a work around for the settings being gone?

Is there a list of incompatible extensions?

Err.. I suppose incompatible extension is GmailSkins (og Gmail itself) :D
Really, it was long since last update of gmailskins, and not so long since
update of gmail interface.
* Anyway, extension itself still works. You can try editing gmailskins label
in settings to configure it... Not the best way, but only.

What I do is to simply delete gmailskins label in settings. Go to settings -
labels - find gmailskins default label (a bunch of 1's and 0's) and delete
it. Then restart gmail and you will see an orange strip at the top that will
take you to gmailskins settings page. you can configure skins from there.
The only problem is that if you want to change it again you have to repeat
the process and start from scratch all over again.

Go to labels, rename, check out, log back in.
Here we go, teh codes.
Label Settings

1st Number - Navigation Orientation:(Far left number)
1 Vertical (along the left side)
0 Horizontal (above the Web Clips)

2nd Number - Scroll Navi Panel:
1 Stay where it is
0 Moves down with the page as you scroll

3rd Number - Zebra Strips:
1 All one color
0 Unread messages alternate color

4th Number - Attachment Icon:
1 Leave as paperclip
0 See what kind of attachment it has from inbox

5th Number - Show Email Address:
1 Show it
0 Hide it

6th Number - Invite Box:
1 Show it
0 Hide it

7th Number - Footer Stuff:
1 Show all the stuff at the bottom of the screen
0 Hide it all

8th Number - IG Column:
1 Show nothing
0 Show the left-most column of your personlized homepage next to your list
of messages

9th Number - IG Column Width: (Far right number)
1 Normal
0 Wide (for wide screen displays)
