Wow - cool. Will you be attending the conference?

The main thrust of this session is not to look at FlashBlock
specifically, but to talk about some of the social issues facing the
Flash community .

Flash ad designers face a basic challenge:

    more compelling = more distracting = more annoying = FlashBlock

To address this, people creating the ads must to recognize that they
are competing for a very valuable and finite resource: attention - in
the talk I'll
advocate that designers should put the users in charge of their
attentive resources, summed up by the following three guidelines:

* Always start still, get more dynamic when the user interacts
* Always start quiet, get more noisy when the user interacts
* Always give the user control to stop, turn off and opt out

One thing I'll raise is what I call the "missing delete button"
syndrome - in software deleting things is free, but more and more
software apps have mandatory portions of the UI real-estate that are
lock down and cannot be deleted by the user. The mantra in the UI
community used to be "always offer undo". Now I believe it should be
"always offer delete" - if the community really wants to be "user
centric", there should always be an option to delete or hide portions
of the UI that a user doesn't care about.

I'd be be very happy to hear any specific news/stories that you'd like
to relay to the Flash community.
