I can't seem to find it anywhere on disk. I assume that it isn't structured in the Internet Explorer way, where it stores bookmarks as *.url format in \Favourites. How, then do I backup my bookmarks say, before reformatting my system? Are the bookmarks stored in a database of some sort, and if so, how can I retrieve them individually? Another question I have is where Firefox stores my Temporary Internet Files like cookies and webpages. Am I correct to say that it stores it in the Temporary Internet Files folder which is also utilized by Internet Explorer? Are there other places which it stores user information? Thanks. (C:\Documents and Settings\[Windows Login Name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\[profile name]\[random string].slt) Cookies are stored in a file called 'cookies.txt' same directory. Temporary internet files are stored in a subdirectory named 'Cache' in the same directory. All other user information is stored in that same directory. Mazzel, Martijn. All are stored in the Firefox user profile. To find out where that is for your platform, refer to: http://home.att.net/~cherokee67/ns7profloc.html For a good backup system, have a look at MozBackup: http://backup.jasnapaka.com/ -- Brian King www.mozdev.org - free project hosting for the mozilla community From dskw86 at gmail.com Mon Jul 5 09:45:05 2004 From: dskw86 at gmail.com (DS KW) Date: Sun Jul 4 23:44:00 2004 Subject: [FB Help] Firefox Bookmarks / Cache Questions [Thanks!] In-Reply-To: <40E85CF8.3080304@mozdev.org> References: <9177412a04070405394845094@mail.gmail.com> <40E85CF8.3080304@mozdev.org> Message-ID: <9177412a0407041745721eb9e3@mail.gmail.com> Hi, To Mr Martijn Ras and Mr Brian King, thanks for replying. I have indeed found my profiles in the directory (C:\Documents and Settings\[Windows Login Name]\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\[profile name]\[random string].slt). Also, the link "http://backup.jasnapaka.com/" to MozBackup was really useful. Thanks once again! They would be very useful to keep track of mail contacts. e.g. I could send all the incoming mail from friend@host.com to 'friend IN' folder (already possible), and all outgoing mail to friend@host.com to 'friend OUT' folder. It seems like Tb mail filters are limited to incoming mail. I look forward to hearing your opinion...
